Romney, Ryan Support Rahm

This from ABC10 in Philadelphia:
"Teachers unions have too often made plain that their interests conflict with those of our children, and today we are seeing one of the clearest examples yet." -- Mitt Romney
And this:
"I've known Rahm Emanuel for years. He's a former colleague of mine. Rahm and I have not agreed on every issue or on a lot of issues, but Mayor Emanuel is right today in saying that this teacher's union strike is unnecessary and wrong. We know that Rahm is not going to support our campaign, but on this issue and this day we stand with Mayor Rahm Emanuel." -- Paul Ryan
More from Ryan:
And so, we were going to ask, where does President Obama stand? Does he stand with his former Chief of Staff Mayor Rahm Emanuel, with the children and the parents, or does he stand with the union? On issues like this, we need to speak out and be really clear. In a Romney-Ryan administration we will not be ambiguous, we will stand with education reform, we will champion bipartisan education reforms.
Actually a damn good question. Where does Obama stand? Answer:
Obama "has not expressed any opinion or made any assessment," White House spokesman, Jay Carney said.

  1. It's amazing that a single day of this strike has clarified the actual alliances that exist in the current plague of reformers. There's no light between the Tea Party and Rahm, nor between Rahm and Ryan, and all of their slogans and bromides and terrible ideas have been been planted in the White House in the person of Arne Duncan. Our great President doesn't know which way to turn or what to say for the first time I can recall. I'm not sure he even put two and two together on this matter before.

This in itself is a victory-- even as late as last year, the President was lecturing the Urban League about being afraid of change when they criticized his ed policies. Maybe the man will wake up and realize that Rahm, Arne, Eli, Michelle, and the rest of the aptly named Billionaire Boys' Club have led him down a primrose path.

  2. How can anyone NOT understand that rahm is more repug than Tom Cross? Rahm is even working with Cross to try to take over the CTPF by replacing elected directors with appointed-by-the-mayor directors. Rahm was instrumental in passing SB7. He wanted, even more than any right-wing, billionaire-supported "reform" group, to break the CTU.

He continues to simplify the issues to his advantage and lie to the public while vilifying teachers once again. I guess he must think that it worked so well for the last 18 months, why not contiue down the same road. Oh wait, it didn't work out so well. Hmmmmm....
