CTU prez speaks at today's massive rally

  1. Hi Mike,
Thanks so much for all you've done on your blog. As a supportive parent of a third grader in a great public school---there are no teachers in our immediate or extended family, but we're BIG supporters---this is a good way for me to keep up with things.

Regarding the CTU strike, is there a blog or website or webpage you would suggest for day-to-day and hour-to-hour coverage and updates? Given how little I trust the corporate media, I'd like to have at least one source for good info on this.

Any suggestions you have would be helpful.
    Thanks.

Well as Karen says in her speech, "If it didn't come from CTU, it's not true." So I would check out http://www.ctunet.com/.

Then there's my brother Fred's blog. Some great stuff every day at http://preaprez.wordpress.com/

Also, follow me on Twitter where there are dozens of great tweeters keeping on top of the strike, minute by minute.

  3. Mike -- by any chance is this post not permitted for someone from California? It's blank for me out here and I'd love to hear it,
Thanks for all that you do!!

  4. Wow, what an inspiring, yet somber time for education in America. Karen, you are supported in Colorado!

  5. Turtle,
Post should come up everywhere, even in California. Try again.

  6. Hi Mike,
What a day. Incredible, inspiring, thrilling! Standing with thousands of teachers, parents, kids, SEIU 880 workers, reading the resolution of support from the Railroad Workers United, seeing the busloads of people who drove down from Wisconsin to join us, teachers from Minnesota and Ohio...

I talked with Lisa, a social science teacher at Hyde Park and union delegate, who held one of the best posters I saw yesterday--"Stop Pimpin' Our Children." It featured "Superfly Rahm." She said we have to remember that we need to thank Rahm--without him, this day would not have happened.

    Thank you, Rahm
