Thousands of L.A. teachers face layoffs

Things are really glum out here in L.A. Like nothing anyone has seen before. Here's the L.A. Times headline from January 24th:

Superintendent announces that no teachers will lose their jobs this school year. But the decision will boost next year's deficit.

  2. I thought firing teachers at random was an essential element of school reform.
