Meeks leads protest at Cubs game. World doesn’t end, as Daley predicted.

Rev. Meeks brought his message of school funding reform to Wrigley Field last night. One month after leading a two-day boycott of Chicago Public Schools, Meeks and hundreds of his supporters protested outside Wednesday's playoff game between the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Despite Mayor Daley’s warning that the protest would ruin the home playoff opener, it was actually Ryan Dempster’s pitching that ruined it.

Chicago Sun-Times:

Daley also had criticized Meeks for pulling Chicago kids out of classes the first day of school to attend a Sept. 2 school funding protest at New Trier Township High School. However, some of Tuesday's protesters included New Trier students who have since formed the Illinois Council of Students to study Illinois' lopsided school funding. New Trier senior Matt McCambridge told the crowd he was "lucky enough to grow up in a ZIP code that had a good school,'' but too many other schools are poorly funded.
