Well, let me explain for those who don't know this city--Palin spoke in the corrupt little town of Rosemont, not Chicago and certainly not on Obama's home turf. She wouldn't dare come into the city, even for her $100K speakers fee and with her 9 personal body guards.
What really pissed me off was that she used her speech before a gaggle of cheering T-baggers to bully and threaten Highland Park High School over it's decision to boycott a girls basketball tournament in Arizona. With a diverse team of hoopers, the school rightly felt the girls would be unsafe and vulnerable to stop-and-search racial profiling. On this, they found common ground with Arizona's own Phoenix Suns players.

Agree! Palin taking on a high school basketball? Shame on her and her diversionary tactics. Talk about real issues, for heaven's sake.
ReplyDeleteIt would have been irresponsible of Highland Park's administration to allow these kids to go to Arizona where they now can be stopped for no reason and asked for papers proving their citizenship status. What would happen is the students weren't carrying papers? They could be jailed without benefit of a trail and put into a detention camp until lawyers were hired and proof of citizenship officially produced. No public school should allow their students to travel to Arizona.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it's not safe for school groups to take their kids to Arizona. No responsible educator would subject their students to the risk of arrest and detention due to this vile and discriminatory law.
