“Why McCain hates me…”

Community organizer Talbott tells us why
John Sidney McCain III hates Madeline Talbott. He’s even using his dwindling campaign funds to pay for TV ads attacking Madeline and her former organization, ACORN. He’s accusing her, along with Barack Obama of being responsible for the global collapse of financial capitalism. Madeline tells why, here.
And she seemed like such a nice person when I interviewed her for our book.
Without a trace
Bill Schubert’s piece, The Bill Ayers I know, was included in a post by Mark Bousquet at Chronicle of Higher Education yesterday morning, attracting a bevy of comments pro and con. By the afternoon it disappeared without a trace. What happened? Why was it pulled? P.S.-- You can also find Bousquet’s piece at HowtheUniversityWorks.com.
14-point lead
Maverick mentioned Ayers’ name three times yesterday. Result? Obama’s poll numbers went up three points. Thanks Mav. Let’s see what happens tonight.

Whatever happened to the ‘Ownership Society?’
The current Newsweek has Zachary Karabell’s telling history of the neocon economic disaster advertised back in 2000 as the "Ownership Society."
The dream of a better society through homeownership didn't originate with George W. Bush. It's as American as Manifest Destiny. The Homestead Act in 1862 offered acres to anyone willing to brave the Western frontier. During Reconstruction, freed slaves were promised "40 acres and a mule." And after World War II, with Levittown and its cousins, affordable homes were a reward of victory. But until very recently, those hopes and dreams were connected to actual income and gainful employment. No longer.

  1. Agree. McCain is a desperate man, and from the looks from some of his appearances, so are his supporters.
