"In Washington, they call this the Ownership Society, but what it really means is - you're on your own. Out of work? Tough luck. No health care? The market will fix it. Born into poverty? Pull yourself up by your own bootstraps - even if you don't have boots. You're on your own. Well it's time for them to own their failure. It's time for us to change America."
Washington doesn't call it an ownership society. We do. Because this country belongs to the people, and we don't have to justify our ownership to the government under any circumstances. It was never "theirs" to begin with, but politicians like Obama want you to think you owe them something, as if your life, wealth, and property came from them in the first place.
ReplyDeleteGovernment does best when it's doing as little as possible.
Save that B.S. for Fanny Mae and Freddie Mack. Whenever you "free marketeers" need a bailout you suddenly become "socialists." Whenever you win an election, suddenly you lose your hatred of big government and instead, see it as your private cash cow.
ReplyDeleteIt was Bush (borrowing from the Cato Institute) who called it the "Ownership Society."
