Florida parents have had it with testing madness

I don't usually post on the weekend but I thought I should share this exciting news story from Florida.
BOCA RATON -- Hundreds of angry parents and teachers from Palm Beach and Broward counties packed a middle school auditorium tonight to tell a top U.S. Department of Education official that the state and federal governments need to stop evaluating teachers and students based on test results. "If you teach by rote you are going to educate students that become sheep," said Boynton Beach resident Vivian D'Angio at a public meeting hosted by U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Boca Raton, at Don Estridge High Tech Middle School. --Palm Beach Post
Nice work, Rita SolnetDiane Ravitch and thanks for hosting, U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Boca Raton. Also worth a read in Valerie Strauss' Answer Sheet column from Monday, "Resistance to test-based school reform is growing."
