Multiple measures for teacher assessment

"Not just test scores", says Duncan

Arne Duncan's recent call for use of multiple assessments in teacher evaluation should have gone without saying. Instead, it came only after months of struggle with teacher unions and advocacy groups. But I'm concerned that, despite Duncan's vague pronouncement, single standardized test scores will still be used as the main, evidence in teacher evaluations by over-compliant district bureaucrats. If test scores remain the predominant factor in rating teachers, the other factors will become tokens.
