I wonder what would happen if the workers, now occupying the abandoned Republic Windows and Doors plant, put together their own management team and negotiated their own deal with the banks, using the bailout money to take over the company? They have the production know-how and obvious leadership and organizational strength. Why not really take over Republic and run it as a cooperative?
